Firings from Blakeley workshop

In May, I attended a throwing weekend run by the extremely talented Matthew Blakely. Matthew is a great teacher. Friendly, patient and extremely knowledgable; he is able to teach students of all abilities. The workshop had five students, each with their own wheel, and lasted from 10am – 4pm for 2 consecutive days. Our class had complete beginners, really advanced students, and novices/intermediates like me. Matthew managed such mixed abilities really well – I don’t think any of us were every bored. I certainly learnt a lot and had tremendous fun!

The workshop really paid off, I managed to gain an extra few centimetres in height in my cylinders. I would throughly recommend the course to anyone with an interest in pottery. I like to think I made some decent pieces – but I’ll leave the final verdict up to you…
